Watching Movies on PSP not Popular among Japanese Users
September 02, 2005
According to a recent study of 1,000 Japanese PSP users by Infoplat, it was revealed that only 10% of those surveyed had watched a movie on the game console, and the majority said they would not buy any UMD movies. Using a memory stick to watch video or view pictures was not very popular either, with less than 50% stating they had any plans to do so, a figure which dropped below 30% for female users. Furthermore, about 50% of users said they had not used their PSP in "some time", and only 25% of male users -- 10% of female users -- have updated their PSP for Internet use. However, people surveyed did show a strong brand loyalty to Sony, with 90% owning a PS2 and 60% owning a PlayStation. Only about 50% owns a Nintendo Game Boy Advance.
